Upon graduation, he joined the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and was the Dental Officer in charge of MINDEF Dental Center. Under his charge, MINDEF Dental Center was the first dental Center in SAF to attain ISO9002 quality service certification. He also was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (FRACDS) having completed both the FRACDS Australian PART I and II examinations.

Dr Chong went on to pursue a 3-year full time postgraduate training in Orthodontics with NUS, where he underwent training at both the National University Hospital (NUH) and National Dental Center (NDC). Upon graduation, he was conferred the Master in Dental Surgery (Orthodontics) and Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons, United Kingdom (Edinburgh). Dr Chong is certified for clear orthodontic aligner systems such as Invisalign and MBrace.

Dr Chong is a member of the Association of Orthodontists, Singapore (AOS) and the Prosthodontics Society Singapore (PSS). His other professional memberships include The Singapore Dental Association (SDA) and The Guild of Dental Graduates Singapore (GDGS).

Currently besides practising at OrthoSm;)e Dental Practice @ Novena Medical Center and Sm;)epod Dentistry @ Coronation Plaza Bukit Timah, Dr Chong is trained in all aspects of orthodontic treatment for adults and children, including growth modification techniques and surgical management. Dr Chong focus is on deriving the optimal outcome for his patients and has been doing so for more than two decades. Therefore, he often works with specialists in other dental disciplines.

Dr Chong is a Christian, devoted husband and father to 3 lovely kids. Besides dentistry, Dr Chong has experienced the excitement of tandem sky-diving when doing his FRACDS exams in Australia and completed his SAF Air-borne course and earned his badge. He also enjoys wind-surfing and motor-biking. He hopes to ride his Harley Davidson bike one day after his children grow up and become independent.
